History
The original studio was established in February 1976 by engineer and producer Metallica ("Ride The Lightning" and "Master Of Puppets") have also recorded here over the years. Flemming Rasmussen, now producer and main engineer, took full ownership of the studio in 1999.

Freddy Hansson's son Junior (8).

The studio on Strandlodsvej consisted of [1] a main building, a four-storey property, with offices, TV rooms etc (on the corner of Strandlodsvej and Øresundsvej). From the 1st floor of the main building a short floating corridor led to [2] a triangular intermediate building (now torn down) with control room. From the control room there was direct access to the first floor of [3] a factory building. Here was the large recording room of approx. 18 by 10 meters. Behind this were the smaller recording rooms for drums and vocals - and at the very back a long empty factory room. Until 1990 the 2nd floor of the main building was used as rehearsal rooms and as accommodation for the musicians in the studio. In 1990 the premises on the 2nd floor were set up as a sound studio (B-studio), see Sweet Silence Upstairs Studios.

From the start, the studio was equipped with the latest technology including a 24-channel Trident A Range mixing console. In connection with a major renovation in 1990/91, the Trident mixer was replaced by a NEVE VR 72, while the Trident mixer was moved into the newly established "B-studio", see Granny Studio. The Neve mixer was sold in 1999. Since 2000, the Trident console was again the main desk until Flemming Rasmussen sold it in 2023. With only 13 consoles ever built of this model, the Trident A Range has attained a near mythical status in the professional recording industry.

In January 2000 the studio relocated to Njalsgade, Amager (2nd location). The Njalsgade studio closed in November 2008 and the building was demolished in 2009. After the closure, Rasmussen worked for some years as a freelance engineer. In April 2014, Flemming Rasmussen, established the 3rd Sweet Silence location in Helsingør, operating under the name Sweet Silence North. It closed in December 2017 and Rasmussen moved the studio back to Copenhagen where the 4th location opened in Bådehavnsgade in the Sydhavnen area in January 2018.

In 2021 Flemming Rasmussen co-authored the book "Rock & Stjernestøv" that tells the history of the Sweet Silence Studios.
