Granny Studio

Profile:

Danish studio founded and owned by Thomas Brekling through his company Granny Production ApS and located at three addresses:
1. 1990 to 1995: Strandlodsvej 85, Amager, Copenhagen (on the 2nd floor at Sweet Silence Studios).
2. 1996 to 2005: Amerikavej 4 in central Copenhagen (Vesterbro).
3. Since 2005: Møllemarken 14, Dronningmølle (50 km north of Copenhagen).

History:
Around 1988 Brekling set up a recording studio in his grandmother's apartment in his mother's house in Rødovre. Grandma was moved down to a room on the ground floor and came up with coffee and cake once in a while. That's how the name Granny Studio came about.

Via an agreement with Sweet Silence Studios, the first official Granny Studio arose around 1990 on the 2nd floor of the Sweet Silence Upstairs Studios.

During 1995 a new 200 m2 studio was built from the ground up in a former merchant's yard in a backhouse at Amerikavej 4 in central Copenhagen. In the period 1999 to 2003 John Fomsgaard worked as in-house engineer here. In 2005 the studio was relocated to Dronningmølle, only 50 meters from the beach, and with recording facilities divided into 4 separate rooms.

The studio’s websites claims the studio to be founded in 1975. This is not correct.
