Other Alphabets (Greek, Cyrllic, Japanese, etc.)

Above is the second version of the Master List of Recording Studios. It is continually being updated as the database entries themselves are updated. The idea behind the list is to have a central, alphabetized reference to prevent duplicates of studios in the database. Recording, mixing, mastering, and engineering studios are eligible for the list. Production studios are eligible provided they deal with recorded sound rather than simply rehearsal, etc. Mobile studios are fine, but only the studios themselves are eligible, not the locations where they have performed the recording. The list does not include live venues, concert halls, outdoor arenas, clubs, private homes, record stores, or anywhere outside of a studio where music may have been recorded. (Let another make that list.)

Post in this thread if:

∙ You want to add studios to the list. The studio must already have an active link in the database. Please provide the location, if known.
∙ You know the location of one the studios on the list and that info isn't yet posted. Please provide a link or some other type of verification; many studios have similar names and it is quite easy to misidentify one (believe me)
∙ You believe two entries on the list reflect the same studio, and should be merged, or, conversely, two studios are represented by a single database entry, and should be split. A discussion will have to follow, in another thread. Preventing duplicates is the main purpose of the list.
∙ You believe an entry is listed incorrectly or inadequately. For example, if a studio is listed as being in the wrong location, or is wrongly marked as a possible duplicate.
∙ You believe an entry on the list is not actually a studio, but rather a venue, label, or something else.

If you would like to help, one of the best things to do at this time is work on profile pages, particulary by prominently adding the geographical location of the studio (city and country, at the mininum). Also, for entities that don't have "studio" or "mastering" in the name, it sometimes helps to clarify on the profile page that it is in fact a studio. (A lot of label/studio confusion has already become apparent 1 week into the Companies update...)

I think Ardent Recording Studio is the best, also. As we go forward, I think perhaps the "fullest name is best" might make a good principle.

Hi, I created an alternative Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms, has been voted correct (my edit, someone else's correct vote). So does 'Air Studios (2)' now also need slotting in amongst the other various Air Studios in this list? Or changing? Or the other three under the location-titled one 'Air Studios, Monserrat' perhaps could be changed to the (2) Air studios entry?

Only within the last hour I looked for an entry for Schnee Studios and it didn't show in the search, and yet I find it via the list above.

I know there'll be torrents at the following comment, but generally speaking, shouldn't we be getting rid of the most newly-created pages for duplicate studios, rather than what we may think are the pages for "incorrect" studio names, following the general policy on this sort of thing in discogs for artists and labels? Some of the variations above, e.g. for Real World, don't seem quite significant enough for me to say one or other is incorrect. Crash helmet!
