Years ago I phoned with him and he was very upset that day, because FSOL sampled the voice from ‚Je suis trist et seul ici’. They did it in for the song Cascade. He was so upset, because he had a real Sopranist in his studio while recording Air 1. Pete ed FSOL, he wants no money for this, but he asked them for a collaboration on a future FAX album. In his opinion everyone can take everything, but you habe also to give something, if you take something. He got no answer from FSOL!
Pete was a gentleman, always straight and fair.

FSOL played a lot of Namlook in the early days during their radio transmissions. Air, Silence, and other Fax releases like Sad World, etc. 93-94 era. Pete obviously sampled quite liberally himself (Pink Floyd's Echoes, Blade Runner). What I've always found odd is the similarity of these two tracks. Escape to Polaris is obviously the Cyrus track played in reverse:

I have to ask Bill about it again, but if I recall, Laswell sampled something of Pete's and it resulted in Pete ing him saying "let's collaborate and all is cool"

An FSOL release on Fax PK would have been amazing! I had not heard this story before, and am now sad it could have been a thing.

Would have been a PW or PS then because FSOL are not from .

Yep! I forgot about that caveat with PK. Was thinking a collab with Pete and not just a PS release.

Not all artists are into collaborating and FSOL definitely isn’t one of them. They don’t supergroup up with ANYONE. So it’s pretty hard to get sad about something that never could have been a thing.
Pete couldn’t have known it at the time, but he was indeed asking the wrong people.
