Vinyl reissue label? I'd like to know how the can re-release 2350 Broadway & 2, Shades of Orion 2, 62 Eulengasse and so many Fax albums which consist on just one more-or-less 1 hour unique track (and work as one real and unique track). -

I think there's no plan to re-release a huge number or all Fax releases on Vinyl, but only a selected handful. -

The shipping cost to Canada makes this a non-starter for me. -

Not the labels fault. They are already making a loss with their rates to ship it to people overseas. Intercontinental shipping is horrible at the moment. A CD from the US costs twice the price for shipping.
But maybe Ear Rational will stock a few? -

South Korean here, shipping cost really makes it hard to purchase this although i really want the vinyl ;( -

Looks like they're not really respecting some of the legacy of the label. On the one hand, I think we'd all appreciate reissues of a lot of the FAX catalogue, but on the other hand, I wish there'd be some more respect granted towards the artists and people involved who are still around. Doesn't look like David (Move D) is particularly pleased with how Silent State is handling things...

on the other hand, if you read Silent State's and Move D's comments on it, you learn that the recent vinyl reissues by Move D Namlook were done in collaboration with David, but Silent State (i.e. the Namlook side) was not involved and therefore could not give any consent. Silent State writes that he even ed the label and the distributor several times and never got an answer from the responsible persons.
So here Namlook's side of the topic is not respected.
Is that better? I think it's exactly the same situation the other way round.
Would Silent state have been better off shouting loudly on the internet instead of trying to resolve this professionally and directly?
The public uproar against Silent State seems to suggest that whoever shouts the loudest is right, regardless of the facts, which, by the way, we all don't know.
I think they should solve this like professionals and until then, we should stop taking sides not even having a clue what's going on. It can only be for the benefit of all of us if they find an agreement and we all get legal options to buy Move D Namlooks music again. -

It also sounds like Moufang doesn't recognize that someone else legally controls the Namlook side now. -

Yes, that's how I read the discussion too.
It seems like David Moufang thinks Silent State is just any label that releases his stuff.
I can't explain this public denunciation any other way.
He overlooks (or at times it reads like ignores) the fact that Silent State in this case at least legally takes the role of Pete Namlook. This also explains why he seems to authorise vinyl represses without talking to Silent State about it. Yes, they are not his friend and music partner Peter as he wrote, but still hold the rights to Petes work.
Without wanting to take sides (I think both could be a bit more professional about it), but I also find Move D's behaviour right now at least once very questionable.
That's the point of my post above: Famous artist shouts publicly, fans run storm without any knowledge of any details.
OK, I'll take a side after all: "Team Pete" here....
Pete Namlook and what's best for his music seems to be completely left out of this. -

Well what can you say about this really. I am not taking sides here at all but it’s very disappointing to see this happening.
I purchased Art of Love and Wagons-Lits from Bandcamp and have been enjoying them very much the past couple of weeks.
Move D and Namlook’s music deserves as wide a platform as possible to get more folk listening and purchasing. Hope this sorts itself out amicably. -

PS
someone trying to sell the CD on here for £145 . Now that is more of a farce. Ridiculous. -

I don't know what's going on, but I think I speak for everyone when i say we want more transparency when it comes to these releases, with all the graverobbing we've seen since Pete's ing. The sensitive nature of these matters certainly call for it.
No snarkiness, no "none of your business", it is absolutely our business where OUR money is going to because none of us want to be ing anyone's shady criminal behavior, or at least would like to think so.

Which is why Pete's catalog should be available to everyone, with all streaming proceeds going towards Pete's family. -

A few weeks back, Silent State wrote a very transparent and open statement in a newsletter about which rights they actually own, what this means for Pete Namlook's music and what their plans are. -

and yeah, you know, that would be great thing to have also posted here in this forum for everybody. Very relevant to the FAX forum, id say. -

Seems like anyone here can post the info for everybody, is the public newsletter somehow private info? despite being 'very transparent' and 'open'? hmmm.... -
Kayashi edited about 1 year ago
Why not give the man himself the possibility to share it here?
Apart from that, I'm not collecting newsletters - so I simply don't have it any more... -

Thanks for the pointer guys! Of course, I am more than willing to share it with you here. Please find below my official statement from the 12th July:
“Last Friday, 7th July, Silent State Recordings had been falsely accused to have ed an illegitimate album series (Move D/Namlook). Apart from being still in shock about this accusation made, I do understand the confusion. Hence, I would like to inform Namlook fans plus label friends about the situation from my side.
I assume, the most important question for buyers is "Do I fall for a scam and pay money for an illegal product?" - No, you 100% don’t!
Due to a license agreement, I own the master rights to various recordings whose rights were previously owned by Pete Namlook personally. This also includes the rights transferred from collaborating artists (like Move D) to Pete Namlook. I also own the corresponding documents and, of course, the artists receive their royalty payments after appropriate invoicing (as is customary in the music industry). For the avoidance of doubt, this has nothing to do with publishing rights. Therefore, Move D and other artists will receive further royalties from GEMA (or other collecting societies) as well.
There are certain musical works that haven’t been transferred via the aforementioned licensing agreement and therefore will never be distributed digitally or physically via Silent State Recordings (e.g. all Uwe Schmidt related releases).
Since the founding of the label I am closely advised legally and proceed accordingly when I tackle a project.
It is also important to understand the role of my label in the "Pete Namlook Universe":
From the beginning I have worked very closely with Pete's family, former companions, but also with the artists Pete has collaborated with. Therefore, I have built up a good and friendly agreements with many artists to fulfill the agreements concluded with Fax Records. For this purpose, of course, I also create s, which I do distribute to the respective artist or his rights successor at any time.
My mission goal is to be able to make Pete Namlook's breathtaking creative work available again in highest quality and as complete as possible. The income from the Pete Namlook rights will therefore flow 100% into the development of the label and thus into the aforementioned goal. To say that the label work is profitable would be a hyperbole; I do this to perserve Pete’s gorgeous music!
The alternative would mean that this not insignificant part of Pete Namlook's creative work remains completely lost and for music lovers basically only the completely overheated second-hand CD market is available as a legal purchase option. How Pete himself stood to these exaggerated second hand prices (and this ultimately lead to the Ambient World label), should be known to every Fax Records fan.
So, I figured it would be great to offer this legal, digital option, the proceeds of which will also be completely distributed to the actual artists or their estates according to the agreements made between artist and Fax Records.
Please excuse my verbosity, but I felt it was necessary to shed some light onto this and I promise you won’t hear back from me until early winter.
I breathe and love Pete’s music and working on the vinyl reissues means the world to me. The label work wouldn’t be possible if not for your kind and amazing and...I am more than grateful for it! Thank you!”
Additional note 27th July:
I shortened the original statement a bit because it went into more detail about David Moufang’s postings which in the meantime have been taken down. We finally managed to connect dots and we will settle a new agreement. As it is his wish to make these albums unavailable, all Move D/Namlook albums have been taken down digitally. As he also doesn’t own the rights to publish Move D Namlook material digitally and physically without consent, we will also look into this matter and will find soon an agreement to make this beautiful body of work available legally again.
Thanks and have a beautiful summer! -

Great, I was able to buy a digital copy of Silence from Silent State Recordings, I dont have many albums from the FAX label (Mick's album, 2360, The Evolution of Move D, Silence 5 on CD and the Fires of Ork) or know as much about them as some of you folks on here but its great to be able to read these threads to expand my knowledge. I will be travelling to Berlin in a few weeks I might get lucky and find a FAX CD or 20!!
