I don't make money on shipping. I try my best to charge the exact amount that I've got to pay, but in fact I probably lose a little when you tally everything up.
I ship all records in new mailers, with cardboard inserts (for rigidity, and extra protection from the box cutters when you open it) I also live in a neighborhood in Brooklyn that has grown so much over the past 10 years that the Post Office can't handle the people and is usually at least an hour wait just to drop them off. No one has time for that when you drop off records almost every day. Instead I drop it off at my local shipping store, which USPS comes and picks up every day. For that service they charge $1 per record. Media Mail is around $4.50 for a single record. With the mailers, inserts, plastic sleeves, tape, labels, etc... and the $1 drop off fee, plus PayPal/discogs fees, It's probably even more than what I'm charging.
Records are cleaned with the 1 by one antistatic super fine brush. I sweep any dust out of the grooves first. Then I clean it with a Pro-ject VC2 Record cleaning machine using the project wash it fluid. Records are shipped in record mailers, face down with records outside of the cover in their sleeves to avoid extra ring wear in shipping. Cardboard insert on top inside the mailers for rigidity and to protect the record.
Pricing is based on discogs sales history and what others are listed for in the US in the same condition/grade, and priced accordingly to sell. I'm selling me entire collection, and as of now only have about 10% listed. So if there is anything you are looking for that is related to other things I have for sale, feel free to ask if I have it and just haven't had time to list it yet.
I try to get the records shipped out the same day. The shipping center closes at 8pm EST, so if the order is before 7pm I usually can get it out that day. It may take a day or two after the tracking number is sent to show that it's been scanned and picked up. I DJ for a living, so some weekends can be super busy for me. So if I'm not responsive right away on the weekend that is why. I still try my best to get them out asap, and usually do, but some weekends can be crazy so please keep that in mind.
I try my best to get the right pressing by searching what is written in the runouts. Some pressings can be really difficult to find out which one I have. (some of them have 20 different variations of what is written in the runouts for each pressing) If that is something that is important to you for a particular record, please check with me beforehand if I don't mention it in the description.
