I love this album. Full on E,W&F and exactly what you'd expect from a class funk act. The title track 'Faces' is my fave, a jazzy funky tune with so much going on and oozing energy. When I put this double album on I know I'm going to be treated to just over an hour of pure classic Earth, Wind & Fire. One of my favourite bands of all time.

This album is a mouth full. In fact, the title should be 'Mouth Full Of Funk'. Puns aside, Its no surprise that Earth Wind and Fire just blow it out loud and lively. there's so much energy on this record. My problem is that...that's the problem. This is a 4 sided LP. Not one minute is there without a fast-paced, bass sliding song. It's too much. the few slower songs are also heaped together, not spaced out along the album tracklist. Albums before this one were 9 songs max and now we have a 15 fast pace songs to listen to in one album. Some of these songs are fantastic like "Turn it Into Something Good", "Back On the Road" and "In Time". They have that great Earth, Wind and Fire groove that a lot of other bands struggled to replicate. These are only some though. Once again, this album being so big, songs end up feeling like extra material that the band liked but didn't love. Songs that are slapped on the album to serve as content rather than something to dance to. Of course, the music is played great and every song musically, are equally as impressive. One key difference in this album is that the brass section takes a bigger center stage than past recordings. They deliver more parts and are way lower in the mix of the other instruments. This is an album which you should get...so long as you have the other albums first. Something like "I Am" or "All 'N All" are a much better start point.
