just read of the ing of James Mtume decide to look at my collection dug out this album which i purchased
from the US from a well trusted dealer around late 80s purely because my interest in Jean Carne at the time
checked the versions available to ascertain which pressing i have everything matches the pictures , the only discrepancy was the matrix No
My copy is "P 213- A" which is etched with MASTERDISC Pressed as stated

Anyone have any info as to it being a Very Good Bootleg or an unidentified later pressing

As someone who loves free and spiritual jazz, I found this album very frustrating. It is very heavy on vocals (something I personally can't stand in jazz music) and rarely breaks out of its structure..which, let's be honest, never really goes anywhere. I wouldn't call this fusion or avante garde at all, and MAYBE free improv.. but no, not really. The album's intent is in it's message, not the music. Considering the players involved (Pete Cosey on an actual album?!) I find this very confusing and a total disappointment. Why bring in such amazing musicians if you're not going to use them?? Don't make the same mistake I did, listen to it online before you buy to see if it's right for you!

I think this album is better than "Land of the Blacks" on Strata East which goes for a lot more money
Sais is unusual dedication to the Ancient Egyptians on the Nile Valley has some Mythical and Ethnic leanings, the poetry gives it a helping hand.
I keep going back to Cabral as it has beautiful vocals and nice percussion sounds using chains and cymbals to symbolize slavery etc.
The album has other great sounds but you must be prepared for an Ethnic approach to jazz this album will not disappoint.
