Notes
US first pressing, featuring Robert Ludwig's "hot" mastering on both sides. These were withdrawn early because the high bass levels caused low-grade cartridges to mistrack, leading people to return the album on the belief that it was defective. Another engineer was then hired to recut a much less "hot" version of the album, and that is the far more common version.

Ima the brag club in finding a 'RL' out in the Wyld. Rando Goodwill lot buy, and the disc looks un-played. so. Good for me! and I welcome myself into the braggart's club.

Holy damn, I just got lucky enough today to get this record for $20 in like VG+/VG+ condition. The sound is absolutely incredible; what a blessing.

Edited 3 months agoMy side two has a couple of ruins on the labe in the white stripe. Has anyone e seen this before? Looks printed. May be hand written.

Just found a copy of this today at a record fair in a box of various albums on the floor. The seller said "oh how about 3 bucks." All of my hunting paid off!

Looks like this variant has smaller groove spacing on side 2. I've had multiple variants of RL's, and I'd say the Monarchs and Presswells have been overall better.

Edited 3 years agoMine has these runouts:
Matrix / Runout (A-Side Runout, variant 2): p o ST-A-691671 RL ss B 3
Matrix / Runout (B-Side Runout, variant 2): p o ST-A-691672 RL ss A 3 -- however the A is crossed out and then it has B3 instead. Guessing this is just a variant?
Thanks in advance for the help
Beware the seller with a sealed copy too. I asked them how they knew if was this press… no answer after several days -
Why is the side 2 runout on this one wider than it is for all the other pressing plants? And, why does the RL look different? Larger and better handwriting. It definitely has that RL sound though, so I don't get it. Anybody know?

Just found one of these today....Holy SH*T!! I A-B'd a later '69 pressing and there is zero comparison. Absolutely night and day! The record shop had no idea and there was no mention -- amazing. And.....VG+ to NM.

Just snagged one for $25 from a literal “by the book” seller who had no idea what he had. Cover was trashed, seam was split along bottom and no inner, but was pleasantly surprised at playback - solid VG throughout, RL SS side one, RL side two. It comes close to my Monarch RL that I had to break the bank for. “They” are out there, folks - happy hunting!

So I'm looking for some identification help. Just got a sealed copy with the "Whole Lotta Love" sticker on front. There is no sticker on the back. Any way of knowing? Thanks
