A reissue of this is coming out in the Classic Vinyl Series edition in 2025. Good I won't have to open the sealed original I purchased a over decade ago.

Truly an amazing sounding record. The instruments are very well recorded and Doug Sax did a terrific job on the mastering. My copy was a strong VG+ and it plays very nice. Would highly recommend picking this up if you see a clean copy for a good price.

Miles' style of melodic trumpet playing and the bass/drums of Paul Jackson and Mike Clark from the Headhunters. Not impossible to find, but would love to see a modern reissue with audiophile love.

Majestic Jazz-Funk Sounds such as 'Inside You' can't unfortunately be heard anywhere in time, except on these 70s unparalleled LPs. They say it's the lack of proper atmosphere, perhaps. Introspection for the troubled, rhythms for the anxious, deepness for the demanding. A singular connection with the Cosmos. No shadow of a doubt, this is one of the major treasures from the period. Eddie Henderson was clever in gathering a team of amazing musicians in order to create a singular, though timeless sonic ensemble for his album 'Heritage', with James Mtume on the percussion, and most specially - and this is the unexpected surprise - Patrice Rushen (whose sweet vocals are legendary on 'Haven You Heard' & 'Forget Me Nots') on Electric Piano. Take a deep breath.

Edited 14 years agoAll of Eddie Henderson's records are pretty good but to me this is the best of them all. You don't really know what to expect looking at the cover but this is some deep, groovy jazz-funk all the way through. You might think that the prices this record commands are a little off the wall but it is totally worth it...
