Always gratifying when an album like this proves incredibly popular. And pleasantly surprising as well. Perhaps there is a glimmer of hope for the mainly spineless, order following (in)human race after all. One never knows, does one? However, do try and think positively everybody! It just might work....
Anyway, if you really dig Side One of the gorgeous 'Harvest Time' perhaps you could lend your ears and heart to Tim Buckley's 'Cafe' and 'Chase The Blues Away' from his 1969 'Blue Afternoon' LP along with John Martyn's 1973 title track on his 'Solid Air' LP and of course anything by Ben Webster. Very similar grooves to 'Harvest Time'. There's loads more of course but feel free, while you still can, to do your own research. But do be quick, before the whole shithouse goes up in flames. Thank you, Jim Morrison! Ho Ho.
One more snippet, just give a listen to the similarities between the opening bars of 'Upper Egypt & Lower Egypt' from Pharoah's 1966 'Tauhid' and 'Come Here Woman' from Tim's 1970 'Starsailor'. Stephanie and I met the highly intelligent, polite and humorous, believe it or not, Tim in 1973 at the 'Sefronia/Discreet' doodah where he mentioned lots of amazing Musicians including Pharoah of course. When I asked Tim about making more albums like 'Starsailor' he looked pointedly at his management team and said 'They won't let me.' Hmm....
And finally snippet number three, when years later Setsuko and I had a nice chat with the equally highly intelligent, polite and humorous but perhaps wiser and less reckless Pharoah at Ronnie Scott's, Pharoah was also very familiar with a wide range of Music including of course, surprise surprise, Buckley's Music. Hmmm, Jazz, nice....
Phew, that's enough waffle and name dropping for now, folks.
It's a small world innit, but I wouldn't want to paint it.
Although sixty quid for a double album when 'they' ain't even got the original analogue tapes! Very naughty!
Ah, Om, Music!
