Reviews
-
Wish I read these reviews before I bought this. I agree the pressing is terrible. Mine has a lot of vocal distortion and, despite warning it multiple times, still sounds dirty and body. I could live with the noise if the vocals - which is really the main reason why I bought this album, were clear but the distortion and over modulation are so bad that it makes listening hugely frustrating.
-
Flat and quiet, terrible pressing, sucks because I love this album. Leon has one of the best voices since Sam Cooke.
-
Yea this pressing is very poor hopefully down the line they will repress this record so it gets the better treatment it deserves.
-
My pressing says made in on the back cover and made in EU on the labels. Everything else looks the same. Except no code is included.
-
Have to say I find the pressing quite pleasant to listen to. No issues with the dynamic and no surface noise to note. Vocals really fill the room.
Playing through a uturn orbit plus/2M Blue/marantz 2215b and dynaco a10 speakers -
Just picked up the EU copy. Pressing is fine. Played side by side to the flac and its practically identical.
Not sure why some folk dont understand the album has a lo-fi sound deliberately to capture the retro sound he went for on this.
Pressing is perfect.
Same as every other copy I reckon. -
I feel everyone's pain in their comments as I too have been baffled by this one. So much so, I have bought 2 different copies. On the back of each cover at the bottom, one says "Made in the EU" which is supposedly the European version and the other cover says "Made in " which is supposedly the US version. They both sound identical to my ear, which isn't very good, hence why I bought a completely different copy or pressing I thought. They both share exact same barcode on back 8 88750 89141 9 and both copies are © 2015.
On the "Made in the EU" version here's some info. There is a smaller white sticker in the upper right on the front cover with a barcode and has "ODID 5565660 Leon Bridges [LP] Coming Home" above the barcode and below has "3955517A US TRACK 419"

On the one that reads "Made in " which is sold as the US version, here's the info off that one. There is a white and red hype sticker on the front/top right corner which looks exactly as the one on this version from above:

Not sure if any of this will help anyone but comparing these to a digital version, none of them sound that great. I still would take the vinyl version over the digital version which is worse than the vinyl, comparing the two as I write this. They all sound like I'm listening to it through blown speakers. Maybe this was the sound he was looking for, but for me doesn't work which is unfortunate because the music is outstanding. But I do find it interesting that a few of the songs sound better than others, does anyone else notice that? : ) -
All of my numbers match up with this one...but my jacket says "Made in " and says nothing about the EU. The only other pressing made in is an Amazon special that is red. Mine is black and 180g. Anyone else have this?
-
I basically came here to check the comments about the EU pressing because it sounds not very convincing; I don't know, but there's something not well defined on this pressing and its troubling me as I'm not enjoying this record as I wanted to. I went directly to the streaming services to check how it sounds (using high-end headsets) and the quality was very much the same. So, maybe this is how it supposed to sound? was this album engineered to sound this way? I'll have to hear another copy from a record store and see what happens. But i think this copy will have to be returned :(

Edited 4 years agoI don't get the negative reviews here but I'm also not an audiophile. To my ears this sounds fine. Quiet, flat, I'm happy with my copy.
