Unfortunately my pressing (no. 002632) has a lot of surface noise (crackle). When the sound overtakes it, it sounds great, but it's annoying though. Anybody else has this?

Sounds fantastic, and I didn't really expect it to as the time pressed on most sides feels like it's really pushing the 45rpm format. Side one especially, with just under 20 minutes of music on it. For comparison that's slightly longer than all of Dark Side of the Moon's 1st side. However it's completely unnoticeable and doesn't seem to burden the sound at all. Very lively, deep, warm, and engaging. Absolutely incredible.

Edited one year agoReally an unreal album. Yes the pressing and sound is amazing and betters my Og in every way, but lets talk about the music for a second. This may possibly be my favorite Miles album of all time. The overall mood set by Herbie and Chick is *chefs kiss*. Miles is on top of his game and it is one of Tonys greatest performances of all time. The music transports you to somewhere mysterious and dark yet simultaneously welcoming. Its an amazing feat in music. Simple as that

Edited 2 years agoIt appears now that in the mastering of this reissue, there was a digital step (like in ALL MoFi reissues I own). So this is not an all analog AAA release. I own a copy, and it sounds really good. I own 3000+ records of high quality, and I play on an audiophile hifi set. Yes, I can hear the differences between different pressings. Yes, I hear poor mastering. Would it be possible that the DSD 256 step is contributing to the excellent sound of this release? Is AAA or All analog a collectors gimmick, read snobism? On the other hand, the fact that MoFi was not transparent about the digital mastering step, was clearly misleading. But was MoFi misleading because they know of the snobism of record collectors about AAA (that’s no excuse, off course). ECM, for example, masters all recent vinyl releases from digital master tapes. Sound is excellent.

It has been said many times but bears repeating - these MoFi second quintet releases are as good as everyone says, they are exceptional - this one wasn't even high on my list to get because I had a very nice early repress (super clean) - this copy just bettered it in every way, clarity, detail, sound stage - I am selling the old one and am glad I was able to get a copy

Very natural presentation, with outstanding clarity and balance. To hear Ron Carter's electric bass (on the title track) fuse jazz and rock preternaturally is astonishing.
