Some very insightful comments here, and to add my 2 cents: you can still get this for a steal. Rocky Jones' Choice of a new generation alone is worth the price.

It's criminal, frustrating and sad that fantastic deep house gems like 'I Need You', 'Inside My Mind' and 'We Came To Jack' never got released on 12" with alternate mixes; these are all fantastic tracks that just couldn't be played out back in the day due to the low volume compilation pressing. A common problem that most of us well. Of the three tracks mentioned above, only Joe Smooth's highly sought after 'Inside My Mind' managed to find its way onto a 12" release, albeit on a very rare and ultra-limited 12" promo. I've always wondered how many copies there were. I presume not many. What was Rocky thinking (or should that be not thinking?)?

        Tip:

Joe Smooth "Inside My Mind" appears as the B side to the 1989 French 7" release of "Promised Land" on Disques Dreyfus.

Jamie Principal "The Prince Of House Medley" appears on it's own as the B side to 1988 German 12" release of "DJ International Acid House Megajackmix" on ZYX Records.

I totally agree with all the previous comments but for me the ultimate track on this comp is 'I Need You' by 'Hollywood And the Heat' AKA Joe Smooth & Frankie Rodriguez. Absolute timeless classic!! Also 'Choice of A New Generation' by 'Rocky Jones' is worth checking along with numerous others!! Don't forget 'Promised Land' is on here too! This LP really does showcase a very special time in the early days of House Music's evolution. Essential:)

Some great tracks on this comp, I bought this back in the day...Joe Smooth's Inside My Mind is worth the purchase of this LP...it can also be found on Joe Smooth's first Lp

This compilation actually has quite a few exclusive or rather elusive tracks on it. Who is Andre Owens, i'd love to have a full length version of his 'Destiny of Love'. Secret Secret has it's only appearance here. Professor Funk's Box Head is exclusive to this album as is Blake Baxter's Work from the top of my head. All great tracks if you ask me, all published by Rocky Jones' Popstar, maybe he still has a vault of tapes somewhere. So, yes, an essential compilation.

Joe Smooth's 'Inside My Mind' is an outstanding slice of early deep house, and this exclusively featured track makes Jackmaster 2 an essential compilation. Also includes the original mix of 'Promised Land'. Superb in indeed...

My favourite record of all time - Jackmaster 2. I still have this record and will never part with it!

Love Invasion is one of the forgotten classics of the 80's house era. I first heard this on Westside's Jackmaster 2 compilation in '88 and played it non stop!!

I loved this track so much I covered it myself with our dance project Kandystand in an up to date style.

Fantastic soulful lyrics written by Gavin Christopher and Rocky Jones, and his sister Shawn Christopher brings her soulful voice to the vocals.

My only criticism is that the original track didnt sound mastered that well (could have done with a little more compression) but hey this was the pioneering 80's when gear was expensive...

20 years of house and tracks like this still sound fresh....
