The higher spec you listen to this on the worst the sibilance gets. Ok my bedroom system its tolerable, through my Grunding 1040 on Martin Logan's sounds absolutely unlistenable

Purchased my copy used. After with what others are saying about sibilance. Definitely present on some tracks. Not too bad for a rap pressing from this era though

Edited 2 years agoFans of the late Metal Face anti- hero DOOM might wanna check; a couple of very tasty 'Special Herbs' lurking within this LP: 9 Milli Bros'/Clips Of Doom/Underwater/Jellyfish. Dilla's in there too... I gotta it, that's why I bought the LP & wasn't expecting miracles beyond that. I was wrong!
GFK: on top form; his voice instantly taking me right back to when everything was.... Well, you know. 13 years on from WTC's debut, a lot can change. Thankfully not so.
That said, I'll stick with DOOMS instrumental version of '9 Milli Bros', The raps don't stand up next to the '36 Chambers' legacy.
GENIUS use of Sly Stone's 'Family Affair' on 'Dogs Of War' & plenty of stone cold bangers like 'Be Easy', with a consistency throughout that's hard to pull off with so many producers involved on a track by track basis.
Aside from just a couple of dead fish in the water: ESSENTIAL!! -
I recently picked up a picture sleeve version because I love this album. I’m very pleased with it. My copy is a quiet pressing with nice, deep bass response. There are moments of sibilance on some tracks but I’ve heard far worse on other hip hop records and I was able to minimize it using a cork slipmat. If you’re a fan of GFK, or more specifically this album, I’d recommend buying a copy.
