Edited 2 years agoSure great compilation, but why does it come up in the ALBUM section and not the COMPILATION section?

Edited 4 years agoThe first best-of to be made available by Madonna, “The Immaculate Collection” was released in 1990 at the peak of her post-"Vogue" club diva period, continuing the inflammatory singer’s recent calculated exploitation of Catholic imagery and subversive sexual themes, as evidenced by the wordplay of its title. Naturally, Madonna rejected the notion of assembling the standard overview for pop stars at the end of their imperial phase. After all, she was striving to remain ahead of the curve, and the obligatory slipshod career recap would not be very fitting for an idol still in the habit of reinventing herself as an artist and maintaining her immense popularity. Instead of slowing down and conceding to other upstarts looking to supplant her as a phenomenon, she would set her team the task of putting together an inherently more distinguished and revolutionary compilation than the average retrospective. In doing so, she would reach yet another milestone, achieving a worldwide blockbuster that revived interest in her catalogue and would go on to become the best-selling compilation by a solo artist.
Ostensibly, “The Immaculate Collection” condenses fifteen pop perennials, from "Holiday," "Like A Virgin," "Borderline," "Material Girl," to "Papa Don't Preach" and "Vogue", onto one disc and remixes them for good measure. This revisionist approach offered nearly as much as a studio album in of consistency and sound quality, with all but two of the seventeen songs contained herein enhanced with Q-Sound audio technology. Taken individually, the remixes are inferior to the originals, but the three-dimensional sound of the recordings is the real selling point, undoubtedly compensating for the abundance of edits and reproductions. Also of note are two brand new recordings, “Justify My Love” and “Rescue Me”, predating the overtly salacious, trip hop-leaning “Erotica” era rather than celebrating her diverse, strident, dance-inflected brand of pop music, perhaps included to entice for fans old and new to purchase a copy should they fail to be incentivized by the shiny new remixes courtesy of Shep Pettibone.
The content within is so euphoria-inducing and the sonic reproduction so enveloping that it overcomes all of the aforementioned discrepancies, providing listeners with an utterly absorbing aural experience as much as a refreshed review of past glories. If consumed as a standalone album rather than a singles collection - of which it should not be considered due to the lack of original mixes - this flows terrifically, serving as a ratifying example of Madonna’s dissimilitude and adaptability. As an alternative to owning her entire discography, there is no better option for casual fans. Equally flawless chronological sequencing and sonic detail as ABBA's "Gold" and Carpenters' "Singles", both of which are also largely devoid of original recordings, so definitive is Madonna's first compilation that it has still not been superseded as an unfaithful yet entirely irresistible round up of all the high points and best moments in a remarkable reign as the so-called Queen of Pop.

I am confused because I have a CD version with a book cover in white "silk" but the catalog # on the back of the cover is 2-26464 and on the CD it is 7599-26464-2. On the last page of the booklet, under the dedication to "The Pope", there is 9 26464-2.
On the CD there is also Made in .
All these numbers take me to the Royal Box but my copy is an Immaculate collection cd.
Can somebody help?
Thanks. -
i've got a vinyl copy with 2 overlapping stickers on one of the sides that covers a few of the tracks. whats all that about?
How did this ever quality inspection?! -
Does the first print of this album come with printed sleeves of madonna. I got a 1st press copy and it did not come with the printed sleeves shown in the discogs photos. If anyone could let me know that would be amazing.
