Edited one year agoI around 2001 or 2002, I had a dream that "Earth, Wind & Fire" came out with a new song that almost sounded like they dug back to their heyday....Much to my surprise (and my delight) that a year later, "All In The Way" would start being played on the radio...It had everything you wanted from an "Earth, Wind & Fire" song, "Maurice" on lead vocal, great Drums, Bass, keyboards, Horns, and "Emotion" backgrounds....
Soon after "The Promise" was released....
By this time, the group was down to a lean 4 man personnel with: "Maurice", "Philip", Verdine" and "Ralph (most Old School groups were operating like that)....
I don't know if it came out to much fanfare, and honestly I didn't care, I just wanted it!!!!!
Man, this album is loaded with Crown Jewels!!!!
With "All In The Way" being the 1st one, the 2nd one in, "Wonderland", has "Maurice", "Philip" and guest "Angie Stone" trading Vocals on a sultry track....
"Where Do We Go From Here?" (the 3rd Crown Jewel) is said to be originally from the "I Am" sessions, and has "Philip's" Voiceprints all over it!!!!!
4th Crown Jewel, "All About Love" is a "Maurice" treasure, once again with some back up from "The Emotions"....
"Suppose You Like Me" (5th) (Composed by ?QuestLove & "James Poyser" from "The Roots", along with "Pino Palladino" and "Philip's" son, "Sir James Bailey", who now tours with the band) is a real smooth, but JUMPIN' t....
The 6th Crown Jewel, "She Waits", is so good, that it makes you envision "Maurice" STRUTTIN' around while he's singing this....
"Let Me Love You", the 7th Crown Jewel, is another smooth jam that "Maurice" lays out....
The last song and Crown Jewel, "Dirty", also written during the "I Am" sessions, is a "Funky" t about a guy who is a "Gigolo"....
The "Interludes" are Classic "Earth, Wind & Fire", especially "Wiggle", which a full version was just released in 2019 on a "Maurice White" album called "Manifestation"....
Once again, I guess the only negative thing is that this may be just a little bit tad too long.....But, that's ok, once again, it was the "CD" age, before coming back to the true way of listening to music in Vinyl...
I do want this on Vinyl, but again, with "Uncle Reese" ing away, I'm just not sure it will happen...I hope that most of you know about this one...If not, give it a chance....
