I'll be honest, I never really 'got' this album at all. It never coalesced into anything tangible, meaningful or memorable (despite a number of strong tracks). Like a story you read that is strong enough to act on metaphorical levels it just seemed devoid of any significance. Then I heard Loscil's 'Monument Builders' and everything slid into place. It's a paean to Man's inevitable slide into decline. Socially, environmentally, philosophically. Not a zombie movie event but a kind-of dreary sadness pervades. The mood hardly ever lifts. Our sunset blinds us to our momentary triumphs. Maybe everyone has left Earth and are in cold storage? This is the music playing in the deserted nth-dimension portal lost luggage dept.
