In jewel case with clear tray and obi. Sixteen page booklet includes musical and production personnel credits in English/Romaji and lyrics to all tracks in Japanese (English where applicable). Initial release included a picture label, Chappie goods reply card and purple fronted obi. Later copies featured an alternate two colour label and white fronted obi.
Chappie is a virtual idol created by the Japanese design group Groovisions, previously best known for their Pizzicato Five visuals.

The concept of “Chappie” might not be so apparent to anyone stumbling across this album but that’s okay because it isn’t required be known in order to enjoy the music contained in this CD. In a nutshell, “Chappie” is a blank canvas in which you can project your personality upon. The only thing all “Chappies” have in common is that they’re always smiling and standing upright. How does this relate to the music? Well, to demonstrate the fluidity of Chappie, this album contains an eccentric mix of music by some big names in the shibuya-kei genre. These artist include Round Table (Track 2), Toshihiko Mori and Towa Tei (Track 7), Yasuharu Konishi (track 6) and Haroumi Hosono’s Tim Pan Alley (track 10). This is more like a compilation but it’s instead labeled as an album and credited to only one artist, Chappie. I personally believe that this is a great album for anyone looking to dive into shibuya-kei because it contains everything the genre has to offer. Chappie unfortunately never made another album (probably due to shibuya-kei fading out of popularity by the end of the nineties) but the concept is still being championed by its creator, GROOVISIONS through art exhibitions, graphic designs and an iPhone app where you can create your own chappie and share it with the world
