Should this be merged with 14936245-Steely-Dan-Aja? A different stamp in the runout is s just a variant, no?

Edited 2 years agoEven if you don't love Steely Dan, this record provides all the aural enjoyment an audiophile craves. Kick drum-laden bass grooves, ticking hi-hats, cutting sax solos, and lush backing vocals. The arrangements are alternatingly dense, then sparse, offering insight to this product of intense perfectionism.
I have no complaints about this particular pressing, it is punchy, three-dimensional, and hearkens to the days when studio recordings were highly polished gemstones. Recommended. -
Edited 6 years agoThe masterpiece by Steely Dan. Not my fave but no doubt the height of their career. Goucho would follow and attempt to continue a logical trajectory and it worked albeit at the sacrifice of their very existance. 3 songs were a girls name, 1 song was the greatest jazz/rock track ever devised. But the greatest achievement of SD's career was Deacon Blues....one of the very very few songs that came from Fagen's heart and in every way created the snowcapped mountain of their career. I like Goucho much better actually but their ain't no Deacon Blue there or anywhere else in pop music. N
