J.A.C. The album is named after Joshua, Arthur, and Conrad, the sons of Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber, respectively.

Rondo Acapricio and Damentag still slap to this day. Check out the extended version of Pyjama, I believe that is the better version.

This is not as sublime as Suzuki; where Suzuki seems like one continuous thought, this album is more of a mixed bag, until the last four tunes it's not as laid back and although I do really like some of the more upbeat stuff, overall it's not quite up there. Randa Acapricio and the funky Damentag are the highlights for me

Edited 12 years agoTo be frank, I was a bit disappointed with this album. It starts off very strong with 'Rondo Acapricio' (my favorite track on the CD), but goes downhill with the next seven songs. The vocals on some of the tracks are pretty rough and, in one case, even downright grating. Luckily things pick back up for the final four tracks, but it's not enough to overcome songs two through eight (at least for me).
If you're new to Tosca, do yourself a favor and find a copy of 'Suzuki' instead - that album is a true masterpiece. -
Edited 19 years agoTosca, the way we've gotten to know and love them - getting better by the album. While J.A.C. provides a much brighter and happier sound than the predecessors, they continue to take their audience through some strange trip between subconcious and crystal-clear. Where "Suzuki" was without comparison, this album continues on the same paths - nothing really new, but nothing you've heard before. The CD cover is made of leather, showing Tosca's dedication not only to the music - but albums as complete works of art.

Edited 20 years agoLike Dehli 9, this album contains songs by Tosca - not remixes. Tosca's own sensibility flits froim funk to "smooth jazz" - not every listener's cup of tea - but the orchestration and ornamentation are coinsistent with Tosca's best - always inspired, sometimes sublime. This album has grown on me over a half-dozen hearings - as did Dehli 9 - so I'm very happy to see Tosca's continuing evolution within their own musical vein. The songs are loose and improvisational, though the craftsmanship is meticulous and the cumulative impact of the album seems to be nearly twice that of the individual songs, a killer ratio in my book.
