ETH Zürich “Globe” Magazine reported on Page 5 of No. 2/2018:
“DNA storage: The genetic code of trip hop
British band Massive Attack are seen as pioneers of trip hop music. It has now been 20 years since they released their breakthrough album Mezzanine. To mark the anniversary, the band are having it stored in the form of genetic code. Using technology developed by ETH Zürich, the music can be coded in DNA molecules and poured into tiny glass beads.” -
In 1991 debut album Blue Lines Massive Attacks appeared, the plate that is considered the beginning of the dance-flow trip hop. Seven years later, let hear the English trio with his third cd that it is still innovative. Mezzanine is both ' cool ' as exciting. The slow beats, spatial production and presence of heavy guitars give the album a menacing and compelling character. The dark side of Massive Attack is most evident in the songs sung by Daddy G and 3-D Risingson, Mezzanine and Inertia Creeps. Teardrop and Black Milk, with Cocteau Twins vocalist Elizabeth Fraser and Dissolved Girl, with Sarah Jay, are light-hearted and ' poppier ' songs. Man Next Door, sung by Horace Andy, is the most beautiful song of the plate.
