Edited 6 years agothis in the shops back in the day but after giving it a quick listen thought that they were just copying Master Ace (and Marley Marl) just a bit too much - and like the reviewer below, wished the rapper would stay truer to his normal accent. Anyway, many years later and with fresh/older ears this truly is a seminal LP for British Hip Hop and should definitely be celebrated as such

A great debut Lp considering how young they were when it came out. Only would knock off a star for the fact that MCM rapped yankee, but i could live with that (would have been so much better in his natural voice though). The principles production was BIG he could stand with a lot of the US guys at the time, didn't suffer from the sound quality problems of a lot of UK stuff released at the same time.
MCM Is still rapping and The Principle found religion and apparantly destroyed all his records....a true waste of talent. If you believe in a god i'm sure that music is the last thing he/she/it would dissaprove of. What a shame. -
I've been into rap since good old Kurtis Blow days... This band STANDOUT. My vinyl copies have grooves worn so deep, almost subterranean... Can't rate Caveman highly enough. If only I had deeper pockets would be buying cd copies. Never understood why they didn't break bigger. Probably because unlike the gangsta prats they actually have something constructive to say rather than obsessed by bullets and which bit of anatomy to hump next. Oh for more articulate guys like this that use their brain rather than the contents of their underpants...
