Edited one month agoMy copy sounds great, and having a love/hate relationship with this band and this album, of all the copies I’ve bought and sold through the decades (at least 10 haha!), I still stand by the opinion this album is best heard in mono, and this pressing (if you find it in clean VG+ or better condition), it’s gonna be just about the best way to hear it. I do love this damn album…

Here's the thing. This album, no matter if it's in mono or stereo, has never been an audiophile listen. I don't consider myself an audiophile, either. But this mono pressing is certainly not a high quality one at all. However, it's a step above the unbalanced and weak stereo mix, I'll say that. If you don't mind moderately noisy vinyl and some tape distortion, it's a fun listen, especially to hear a dedicated mono mix after years and years of the stereo mix we've come to know. Save your money, get a vintage mono certainly rather than that recent ERC thousand dollar disaster.

I found the pressing I recently purchased to be exceedingly vibrant and punchy unlike the 2017 mono (lifeless) and 2021 vinyl me please (a bit better but but not close to this). Perhaps it has more to do with the aging of the master tapes?? Surprisingly good considering how much it is knocked. Yes, a good 1967 stereo is likely to be better but this provides a nice alternative to have with the stereo of this classic album.
