Honestly I don't know why so many have problems with this pressing. Either the quality level must have swung from atrocious to brilliant, which I find hard to believe, or there are more pressings than listed here.
I bought mine back when it came out in 2004 and my lp is without flaws and has NO sibilance. Listening to it again last night on my Linn Sondek LP12 revealed stunning sound quality. Deep bass, great vocal presence and very good separation of instruments. Very happy with this pressing! -
Edited 2 years agoI can't help myself, but my copy is an excellent pressing. I play this on my Transrotor Fat Bob and I'm very impressed of the Sound. Much more better than Bernie Grundmans produced "Daybreak" from Norah Jones.
But I must say, I'm not a professional in such things. But it's a pleasure for me to listen to this album.
Sorry for my bad english. -
This pressing is SO BAD. I honestly feel like I have been rinsed by Blue Note how they can release something like this is disgraceful. Distortion on the highs on most tracks - especially Shoot the moon.
That bad I actually re-setup my turntable because I didn't think it was possible to have a record play so badly. I honestly cant listen to it without getting annoyed! -
I bought this pressing new back when it came out, and my copy had a huge gouge over "Turn Me On." Overall, this pressing is ugly.

Great music, but get the Analogue Productions version instead. This edition is badly mastered and poorly pressed.
-
Not a good pressing. brand new out of the wrapper this thing had me testing and re-biasing all my tubes.. nope it was the record and apparently a known issue.

I'm not sure why the average review for this pressing is so high... As people before me have said, it has numerous issues with fidelity and distortion. Steer clear of this version, and don't just settle for it because it's cheap, like I did.
-
Seems to me either the greed of the record company rushing to get this out in the market or the mastering engineers strung out on too much dope is responsible for a very messy vinyl record. I will await a Canadian pressing, they have never ever failed me.
-
Not a great pressing. Noisy in spots and occasional minor distortion. "The Nearness Of You" is especially bad.
