This album is whisper quiet, flat, and sounds fantastic after an ultrasonic cleaning. The music itself is wonderful, especially for a live recording, and the reproduction is fantastic.
No IGD whatsoever, because the runouts on this album are an inch and a half wide per side... If you're hearing distortion here I would advise you check your setup.
Well worth the purchase, this one doesn't disappoint. -
I’m not typically a ‘live’ recording fan when it comes to jazz unless it really stands out. This recording is one of the best I’ve heard. A trio ain’t got no business with a sound this full

Edited one month agoI’m a massive Monk fan with over 30 LPs now - some first pressings etc
Live at the It club is one of my very favourites of the whole lot. There’s something extra exciting going on even for a live Monk album. Hard to put my finger on what , they just sound on fire .
Ive never bought the original release of this from the early 80s as I know it is edited from the original tapes to fit on a double LP. Instead I bought it on iTunes which I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND as an unedited version - the alternative to this is CD or Mosaics expensive box set .
On first listen Ben Riley’s drum solos seem to be the main victim, although I also spotted things like Monks intro to Blue Monk as cut short .
Still, I had to snap this up. My copy is super silent and sounds fantastic. However if you want an unedited version of this incredible set , consider buying it on iTunes !
Happy listening ! -
This is an excellent sounding record at the price point ($27 at my local store). Mix is kinda hot, but it’s an enjoyable listen. A little noise in the inner grooves but not a deal breaker.

Edited one month agoCurious how this pressing sounds. Debating whether to grab a copy. Anyone have any thoughts?
