Great album mired by terrible mastering. I've had multiple copies and every single one of them are mastered far to quietly.

I always wondered how did they get 25 minutes of music on each side without distortion and still having bass. He must have been a mastering genius

Really tickled with this blind buy that I got for $5. I've never heard of this band, The Undisputed Truth before, but apparently this 1976 album was a change in direction for them -- from a psychedelic soul band, into an outta space, George Clinton-esque style funk machine.
As d, this album is a bit nuts, in that it's a concept album where they're actually having conversations (vocoder time!) with and performing for aliens, explaining to the weird sounding intergalactic beings that they are considered "insane" on Earth and have no place there anymore. The aliens are all like "perform for us, humans, so we may understand the method to your madness!". Lol.
Songwriter/mixer/producer Norman Whitfield brought the band over from Motown to his own label, Whitfield records, and created here, one of my favorite funk albums I've heard in the last year. Love it, Even if it gets a very bad score on various sites, where fans of their previous psychedelic soul sound clearly were not happy with the change, and downright savaged it. Which I guess explains why it was so cheap?
When I pick up something just for a wackadoodle album cover and it ends up being a really satisfying, brilliant listen, I always just feel so blessed. Will be returning to this one on a regular basis.
