This one is a must have for hardcore STP fans. Many of the songs are very raw and incomplete; particularly lyrics. It is cool to get a glimpse of the early stages of this masterpiece.
If you aren't a hardcore STP fan then 'She knows me too well" and the acoustic version of "Interstate Love Song" make it well worth the cost.
Very clean sounding press particularly for a colored vinyl. -
Was lucky enough to find this at my local record store instead of paying double online. Cover looks great and for a colored record I'm impressed with how quiet it is. She Knows Me Too Well is pretty much why I got this album and I wasn't dissapointed. This is great if you're a fan of the Purple area, lots of really cool stuff to dig into here.

Agree with most of the reviews here. These are demos, so if you expected this to be as polished as the studio release of "Purple," then you obviously don't understand what demos are. The acoustic songs as well as "Dancing Days" and "She Knows Me Too Well" are definitely the highlights as most have already stated. The packaging is pretty nice - the foil cover and the purple color inside the jacket are nice touches for a release that doesn't include an insert or fold-out or anything along those lines. Limited to 3K copies - I don't think $30-40 is a bad price for this at all, especially if you're a fan of the band and especially the "Purple" era.
-
These demos are very early on in the process and include a lot of what sounds like drunken mumbled karoake. Not what i was expecting from demos which i thought would be a lit more cooked or fleshed out to get put on a record to sell. These are sketches not completed lyrics or even close. Would not have bought this

The acoustic songs are a welcome breeze to vinyl. Dancing Days , STP style is amazing. She Knows Me Too Well , I had never heard before. Scott Weiland sounds really good singing this. The two covers and the two acoustic songs are worth the price of ission.
-
Imagine buying an album that's mostly demos and complaining they sound like demos.
The demos actually sound really good compared to a lot of other recent releases with demos (like Nirvana or Green Day).
And the non-demo tracks all sound fantastic. This is worth the price just for the acoustic version of ILS. -
It’s a nice thing to have as far as hearing alternate versions of songs and if you don’t already have “Dancing Days” on vinyl. As a fan, you can look past the obvious lack of polish due to being demos and outtakes, but keep in mind there’s nothing really mind blowing or stellar about the collection.
-
Very cool to hear different takes on songs most of us who are buying this have heard dozens of times. I wasn’t expecting the overall sound quality to be amazing but Big Empty, Dancing Days and Interstate Love Song (acoustic version) sound quality is excellent. Comes in a nice poly-lined sleeve and plays virtually dead quiet.

Edited 6 months agoClean, flat and well pressed. Good soundstage, with an intimate, live house-concert quality, since most of these are early versions/demos. Wish Weiland’s vocal tracks were a little fuller, but he sounds good.
“Dancing Days” and “She Knows Me Too Well” are nice additions for completists, and the acoustic version of “Interstate Love Song” is a great alternate take, with outstanding vocals from Weiland.
Nice to have a lined inner sleeve supplied. -
