Reviews

I wasn't aware they'd pressed these versions on vinyl until yesterday, when I found the LP in a discount bin - what a lovely surprise! I've been listening to the acoustic versions of "Bonny" and "Desire As" more than the originals for the last couple of years. The pressing is lovely - the guitars shimmer and soar, and Paddy's vocals are wonderfully present. Money well spent at the prices this edition is currently commanding.
-
As the saying goes, you can't step in the same river twice but somehow Paddy manages to do so here with superlative acoustic re-workings, some twenty odd years on from the originals. A rich experience as a companion to STEVE MCQUEEN or enjoyed on their own, these versions do not betray the age of the performers for they are delivered with all the gusto and tenderness of the ages they were written at. This RSD re-press is most welcome.

Fabulous sounding edition. This is the perfect complement of this masterpiece. The deluxe remastered CD version is what you want if you want to start with PF. This vinyl version is for convinced aficionados and it doesn’t disappoint

These acoustic versions are very good, but I much prefer the originals. Wendy Smith added SO MUCH to the Prefab Sprout sound. I can only imagine if she had participated in this project...
-
Really excellent sounding pressing, Great RSD 2023 title. So pleased this was finally released in the US

This was the main reason I did record store day this year. So glad they decided to release this in the U.S. I have the CD but couldn't afford the European 2019 issue.
