Edited one year agoReceived my copy today. No real issues for me, some very minor dishing, slight hiss on some tracks.
Bob's voice seems to be more upfront and also a heavier bass sound on this issue, slight diff mix? Could be just my old ears..
Cover art is lovely embossed logo, numbered edition (mine is #88)! and has the red interior sleeve.
Anyway, very much worth a purchase in my opinion. Happy with it! -
Edited one year agoVery good quality Reissue, sound really good, good press (very rare and very acceptable light background noise but no distortion), mine is not wrap, sorry for others...
Amazing to make the publicity on the "Jamaican Pressing" !
...But we can easily find originals 1977 press for a good price ! -
I’m quite the unlucky fella but somehow i managed to get a copy that wasn’t warped! This is a pretty good sounding record, but the hi-hat is a bit overbearing at times. It did have some noise but not as intense as some others have described it to be. This is probably how it felt to buy a brand new record in the 70s, cheap noisy vinyl stuffed into paper sleeves, minus those razor sharp edges. Those edges are so sharp i can shave with them. I do absolutely love the cover though, it is stunning and a work of art. It has a lot of designs embossed into the cover and the Tuff Gong stamp is awesome.

Got lucky with this one. Absolutely no issues and it sounds very nice. I’ve had to order replacements for Kaya, Uprising and Burnin’ in this series due to excessive warping. QC for this series is nowhere as good as the half-speed masters, but when you get a good one I think they sound extremely nice.

My copy was too dished and warped (which resulted in it being off centre and I couldn't correct it), so it's going back and I'll try my luck on another copy.
-
The roughness on the edge of the record is terribly sharp.. not the dirtiest record but needed a good clean. My beef with this is the mastering. I can't compare it with the original but to me, it sounds far too bloated in the low end, dull, lifeless and tired. Bob seems far away from the instrumentation and everything being played through a sock!! Maybe that was how it was recorded!?. I'm playing on rega p6, ania pro, aria III phono. Vinyl fairly quiet though and ok.

I'm very happy with this! Pretty damn dirty out of the sleeve. After a Spin Clean, sounded absolutely great on my Planar 8. Really love the low end, which shone thru my Wharefdale Lintons. Great dynamics for this digitally sourced material. Hope the others are as good as this.

I am MORE than happy with this release. The record is flat and the vinyl is dead quiet, I put the needle down and had to double check that my amp was on "phono" it was so quiet.

My copy sounds great! I’ve only ever had a cd of this and missed out on the UHQR. The vinyl is flat and there’s no surface noise. I’m very happy with my copy.

Warp factor 4. Dished but playable. Needed a clean and played ok. Played it through twice and some surface noise here and there but nothing major. First listen and 'So Much Things To Say' and 'Exodus' got my attention. Not sure what they did there but I prefer my early UK pressings. Second listen, albeit at a lower volume, and a bit happier. It's the guitar on 'So Much Things To Say'. Rather than crisp and clean it sounds shrill and not real and almost painful at a louder volume. Three others in this series of reissues that I've listened to sound great although all suffer from warpage to some degree and occasional surface noise.
