Audio quality aside, it has always bugged me terribly that after all these years, they have been unable to fix the printing mistake on the cover from the 1991 LP version that distorts the cut-out "PEARL JAM" letters in the background!
-
Unfortunately my copy suffers from terrible QC with several chips along the outside (1 leading to a crack) and an off-centre pressing.
-
Mastering seems preferable to the CD, however is also very varied between tracks, with a big difference between dynamics. Has nice soundstage and width with the background instruments more audible than on digital. My copy isn't too bad but not sure about QC as there were vinyl shreds hanging off the edge. Comes in a paper sleeve so will need to be replaced.
-
Now that the rather unnecessary 30th anniversary double vinyl 45RPM reissue of Vs. is coming soon, it got me thinking-- why has PJ never done a double vinyl reissue of Ten?? We just keep getting these same 1LP reissues over and over and over. It just begs to be spread out across two records for better sound quality. Like so:
A1 Once
A2 Even Flow
A3 Alive
B1 Why Go
B2 Black
B3 Jeremy
C1 Porch
C2 Oceans
C3 Garden
D1 Deep
D2 Release -
Nice sounding issue but God they should have made this as 2xLP version. Side A lacks a bit of dynamics, and my guess this is due to the vinyl beign packed full. A shame really as my favorite Jeremy suffered from that. Side B sounds noticeably better, Garden is just mind blowing.
-
A few quiet pops in the first 15 seconds on my LP, otherwise a very good, dynamic sound. I prefer the mastering to what's on digital.
