It's very noisy, but that's mainly due to the vinyl noises on the tracks themselves. I feel like that lends a cool and more authentic experience when listening; it's as if it's how it was meant to be played.

Edited 10 months agoOverall I think this pressing is pretty solid. Mine is warp free and tracks just fine. It’s got good presence overall, and Ben’s vocals sound great. It was pretty dirty out of the shrink so had to clean it up good before play. Kind of a noisy recording anyway (lots of intentional surface noise). and the few pops and clicks I have imo add to the charm of the recording. I’ve had this variant since its release and have been happy with it ever since. Great album.

I don't have the other pressing to compare it to, but my copy sounds amazing. Dead quiet between tracks. Practically no surface noise. Lots of detail in the soundstage. Of course, there are a lot of popping sounds and even some crackling intentionally put into the tracks, so I had to listen to the digital version afterwards as a comparison to that. Really happy with this release!

RTI did a bad job with this pressing. I bought this thinking it would be the definitive version. Its not only noisier, but the mastering is inferior IMO. The better version is the 2014 https://discogs.versitio.com/release/6357978-The-Postal-Service-Give-Up

Insanely noisy and warped. Needle doesn’t track well. Such a great album but this is a pressing needs to be scrapped.

Edited one year agoSounds excellent! There was some noise on side A initially, but it went away with a good cleaning.

Sounds great on my basic setup, I didn't clean record cause I don't have a spin clean yet, so I def hear some surface noise. Sounds like digital version, cause it is. This is one of my favorite albums so I just had to have it and the Blue/metallic is beautiful!
-
It sounds very clear and very similar to it on streaming. The color of the record itself is easily my favorite in my collection and I love it. I do wish the packaging had more to it though.
-
Lots of surface noise. Not as much as the red deluxe version but still. Enough to hear during the quiet parts. Maybe a good cleaning can fix it. Not super happy with it.
