Mine is really nice and sounds great. There is noise in the run-in grooves but goes away and stays away as soon as the music plays. It’s flat, clean and quiet. I don’t care that it isn’t all-analog. No one can actually pick out the difference. “Audiophile” is a marketing gimmick. Does it sound good? That’s all that matters, not specs and processes.

Edited one year agoDoes anyone have some insight whether or not they’ll do a reissue of this? Currently sold out from Craft. Seeing that they press new variants of the Christmas LP almost every year, I hope they’ll do another (possibly colored) pressing of this
-
May be my most warped record in my small collection, which is actually even hearable right at the start before the actual music comes in (at least I think the noise comes from it in some way or another, as it is kinda rhythmic like when the warpy spots come). Luckily, as soon as the music plays, none of it interferes anymore.

I must have gotten lucky I span mine for the 1st time tonight and was perfectly flat not scratched and minimal noise, most noise was on side B on the last 3 tracks but nothing to complain about
-
I was disappointed in this pressing. I thought I'd avoid the gimmick colored vinyl and get the black vinyl 45 R.P.M pressing for optimal sound quality, but that was a mistake. Although the mastering itself is pretty decent for mono, (in some places it even shines), the vinyl suffered from continual thumps, swooshes, crackles and a peculiar grinding noise throughout the LP. I have a feeling this is one best obtained on a CD if you want the cleanest sound.

Edited 2 years agoScratched from the paper sleeve. Slightly warped. A bit off center. A trifecta of issues here. It’s a shame because I don’t think it sounds bad at all. If you can get a clean copy I think you’ll be happy.

I gave it 4/5 stars. I don’t think it sounds bad, but it doesn’t sound great. My copy is flat and quiet. There are scuff marks all over the vinyl from the paper inner, but it doesn’t effect playback. I only paid $20 for it. I think KG did a good job, with what he had to work with. I’m only disappointed in the QC and inner sleeve. I would of paid more for a gatefold. This album does deserve better.

The remastering is solid, though the pressing is a joke. I expect better from Craft Recordings. Their brand is tainted for me with this release.

My copy sounds just fine to my ears. For recently discovered tapes in an archive, the result is remarkably clear and punchy on my setup. Instrument separation is pretty killer. Not audiophile quality but totally fine for the $20 i spent. Would have loved a tipon jacket but that's nitpicking.
