              Got a copy for $3 because there’s a skip on Houses of the Holy and some intense crackling here and there (I also have the 2014 reissue) and I’m hella impressed. Amazing sound. Exactly what I expected from an OG of Physical Graffiti.

                managed to snag an all around NM copy of this for $40 plus tax and shipping.
                yes, it sounds excellent.
                no, it is not earth shatteringly better/audiophile than the reissues , but i was lucky to pay roughly the same price as the new remaster, so i don't feel salty.
                TBH, zep records often seem to have a very forward, somewhat compressed and un-bassy sound as a deliberate form of sonic attack.
                I have vintage records that have a bigger, more open sound that jimmy page seems to have eschewed in favor of stylized pop compression.
                Houses of the holy is the only original I have that does not feel very top tipped

                  I agree with Leonthepro’s review below almost completely. This pressing is very clear with great separation throughout. I have no issue with that and I’ve had the 2014 pressing which is Digitally remastered. THAT pressing is weak. This pressing is the very best I could get my hands on so far. But the Bjggest issue is the Bass. Or should I say Lack Thereof! Virtually no bass throughout! Is there a pressing out there that would satisfy me? I got this pressing for that very reason and spent a hefty amount for a near mint copy, and I was so disappointed! It’s one of the only records I have that I can crank the bass and volume up way past normal and it’s still Weak! Nothing powerful here. Kashmir is supposed to shake the house!!! If anyone knows of a better pressing please let me know!

                      With a clean and close to NM copy Ill give my 2 cents on this release and its sound. Its important to get a rather clean copy because its a release you do best in turning up the volume quite a bit on to increase the impact of the sound.
                      There is not a massive bass and not enough for my taste, as with most Zeppelin albums Ive tried but it is there at times. The stereo separation is excellent though, with guitars on the very left and right and drums and vocals near the middle. Some songs can mix it up with whats more foward in the sound. Sometimes the guitars are further back while the drums come forth or vice versa. The balance is good and presence of music is alright, especially given some of these original recordings.
                      Overall the songs all sound good though, with the exception of some that are victim of inner groove distortion most likely, lacking a lot of dynamics. Sick Again probably being the best example. The biggest lack here might be in the detail, some tracks can get a little mushy, most likely because of the mastering which tends to keep near the mid range and not venture out to the low and high end enough. It can display some good dynamics at times though, like on In My Time Of Dying.
                      In the end its probably not as crisp as it could be but for what its worth I think it will keep you satisfied until you decide to try something like a Classic Records release. Or if clarity is important you could try a 2014 remaster, they usually sound really sharp, too sharp and unbalanced for my taste which is why I personally avoid them, but they are valid purchases for certain types of serious listeners. Ill gladly stick with this for the time being though.
