A stirring, live recording. John McLaughlan is one of the only few electric guitarists who can get away with going absolutely bonkers on the strings and managing to make it sound totally written down note for note (and it probably is). Fusion jazz had a very small window of not sounding goofy, and thank goodness the Mahavishnu Orchestra was in this window and were on top of their game. I love when him and violinist Jerry Goodman pair together. And backed by Billy Cobham, and Jan Hammer on synth. What a group!
