I had the 2008 Capital reissue but it just didnt get me excited or engaged. I then splurged on this pressing and it delivered the sound i wanted. Ive come to believe theres a big difference in compression used. This version has dynamics and space that are hard to describe but i hear a major difference. It was well worth it for me.

No need for more raving about these early pressings, but the experience of hearing this one only confirmed all the hype. If you like this album, this should top your list.

Edited 10 months agoThis band is so overated, just tiresome guitar rock(Pablo honey/the bends),but ok.computer is a fant@stic record from start to finish.10/10.The records after this one is more tiresome stuff from a VERY overated band!!!!!.Please retire.

These early UKs are the best. Just get one of these

I think this is the copy I have. Sounds really huge with a really wide soundstage and a lot of detail in the guitars.

They were so so so so so stupid to etch the same “you are a wonderful person” garbage on the represses.

"Generally speaking, the whole artwork and packaging is identical to the 1st pressing including the thin cardboard material of the gatefold cover. 180 gram version of this repress: "Radiohead - OK Computer"
I got a STILL SHRINK-WRAPPED gatefold version of it, how can I tell if it's the 1997 or 1998 pressing WITHOUT opening it?
The difference is in the sticker? Or the total weight?

Edited 3 years agoI have this version and it sounds really amazing. So much better than the CD ever could. The presence and sheer definition of the music is on another level. I can feel the drums, hear all the little details and absorb the haunting echo of Thoms voice. This is a stellar pressing and I don’t have any issues with mine. I recommend this one if you come across it.
I think the only way this press can be distinguished from the ‘97 press or the 2013 press is by noticing the outer rim indentation on the record label. The other releases don’t seem to have this. But how to differentiate it from the 180g repress other than weight, I’m not sure if there’s a way. However, if this is the version I have. The cardboard used on the cover of this record is a super flimsy cardstock which I have seen used on other 90s vinyl record outer sleeves like Nirvana’s Incesticide and Sonic Youth’s Experimental Jet Set Trash and No Star.

This pressing uses the same stampers from EMI UK which are cut hot!
On the good side, the low and hi freqs are unbelievable and you get a lot of detail and definition. You can hear the guitars really nice and clear.
On the bad side, hot cuts tend to generate distortion in the mid freqs and this one is not the exception. Therefore some details in the sticks such as the snares during heavy and loud parts are kinda missing ore faded. However I don't think any of these should be considered "bad". It is just different to other releases such as Capitol (from the vaults) and current XL (which actually uses less groove on each side of the vinyl itself). -
This is the 1997 UK 2nd press with the die cut inner sleeves and 120 gram weight vinyl! Bought this new back in early 1998 while in the UK traveling! I have heard several different pressings and must say that this one is by far the best! Perfect bass, mid and high end with excellent transparency! Zero noise and can be volume maxed with NO sibilance or shrill high end that plagued several modern pressings. This press will give you the best value and collectibility rolled into one
