This is one of the most desirable library records from 1972 albeit most of these library themes tend to be cheesy anyway but it plays in the same league as the records in the kpm 1000 series and it´s not even as cheesy as "Voices In Harmony" from 1974 written by Keith Mansfield and John Cameron.
A perfect soundtrack for any genre of budget movie at the time. String ladden themes and soft afro percussion dates to storyteller´s trash from people like........oh, man, I really don´t want to say all these names here, but if you´re into films like "Scream and scream again" from 1970 with Vincent Price and Christopher Lee or the Vampires´ Sound Incorporation records you have found a gem for imaginary creativity of your own really pointing out to and exemplifying bad soft horror, action or love stories at the time.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this or records like "Afro Rock" from Alan Parker and John Cameron. It can make you happy if you´re into it but it sounds dated of course. In this case I´m sure you will feel no shame for the fact that this record sounds definitely dating to this period. The holy grail or trash as trash can may be your choice to choose here.
there were people like Horst Jankowski in who also did the same and there may be people who consider this as serious genre perfection anyhow and somehow it really is it. -
I find it extraordinary that so many records that were bargain basement fodder in the 1980s (that no one wanted) are these days getting priced reissues. This is especially so for library LP issues such as this. I doubt I gave this more than a cursory listen to grade it when I had a copy back then. Even for me, with my eclectic taste, there are some really exciting library LPs, but they are few, and this is not one of them, that is unless you like mostly cheesy symphonic psych and funky beats. Obviously someone out there does!
