Notes

First pressing of 10,000 copies. The strong cardboard cover differs from the later version in that the boxes with tracklisting on the 'Duck Stab' side cover are green rather than yellow.

The seven songs on the Duck Stab side of this LP were previously released as an EP: Duck Stab (Ralph Records, 1978 - RR1177).

Some copies include an insert sheet (approximately 14x21 cm / 5.5x8.3 inch) featuring a form to request hip of W.E.I.R.D. - The Residents official fan club - linked with a riddle to guess what 'W.E.I.R.D.' stands for. ℗ 1978 The Cryptic Corp. [ROFC/1078].

...this group changed alot in my life between 1978-83. specially with "duck
    stab/buster & glen" (78) and "commercial album" (80), but i chose the
outrageous debut from 1974 with the legendary beatles gimmick-cover. to
illustrate their creative potential of that peculiar era...

Odd question, but does anyone here know why Duck Stab had its track listing switched around on this release as opposed to the 7in?

The Residents is one of the strangest bands in the history of music. Rejecting all forms of convention, these self-taught musicians have produced a astounding quantity of weird music, startling videos and parallel projects. Their creative universe deserves at least one entire book.

'Duck Stab' is one of the most accessible of their repertory. It actually encom two projects. Side A combines the 'Duck Stab' songs and side B the songs from 'Busten & Glen', which explain the double cover (vinyl edition). This album has the musical language of the Residents, but its subtle dosage makes it easier to tame. The arrangements are audacious and grotesque at the same time and the balance between the two is brilliant. Some discreet interventions of the synthesizer add to its bizzarro aspect. The treatment of the voices is neat and, even if it’s always the same guy who addresses to us, it’s impossible to have a feeling of proximity because of the vocal treatment makes us feel like a stranger. Many dadaesque staged parts free the pieces from the pop music shackels and bring them closer to theater. Duck Stab is a last ditch effort toward the pop format, but it transgresses most of the pop rules.

The Residents have produced an avalanche of experimental music. Among their success are 'Meet the Residents', 'Third Reich and Roll', 'Not Available', 'Fingerprince', 'Eskimo', 'Commercial album' and 'Mark of the Mole'.

My copy has the labels for side B "Buster & Glen" on both sides. Does anyone know if all copies of the first press are this way or do I have a misprint?
