Edited 11 years agoAs a Björk fan, I usually buy every new release in her discography and there is always a new exciting package to add to the collection.
"Volta" gave birth to many singles all presented in deluxe multiformat editions. When released, they became part of my collection of course.
After the Volta promotion era, "Voltaïc" was announced, the opportunity to get a live film of the Volta tour. Great !
But as much as I am a collector, I don't buy twice the same stuff. If there is one edition that contains some new tracks, I don't want to buy them again on a different release.
The big problem with "Voltaïc" is that the only editions available in Europe came with four discs compiling pretty much everything that was released previously (all remixes and all music videos with bonus videos). In other words, if you wanted to get hold of the live DVD and the live in the studio album, you also had to buy everything you had bought since the release of "Volta". All of a sudden, all 5 singles purchased until then became useless. A real treat for those who didn't buy the singles. A swindling to everyone else.
US fans had the opportunity to purchase an edition containing only new material. And that should have been like that everywhere, not just in USA.
"Voltaïc" in its four disc edition remains the biggest marketing mistake in Björk's discography.
