I know we were all excited when "Pump Up the Volume" came out (the 7:10 version on the US 12" is the best, IMO), but the real gem here is the 12" versions of "Anitina" (found on the UK 12"s). If you like danceable alternative music with melody and , the perfect blend of beauty and brutality, this one is for you. Easily one of my top ten tracks of all time and my favorite end-of-the-night closer from my DJ days.

I currently have M/A/R/R/S 39 times on my iTunes. There's a version on https://discogs.versitio.com/release/388771-Various-Deejay-Millenium that starts something like 'Yo you homeboys here in front - this ones for you' (Female voice). All the other versions start with the words 'Pump up the volume' or 'That's right dude gotta be the greatest record of the year'. Of course the UK and USA versions are different plus the UK almost immediately had the 'Remix'. I'd love to have all the versions most weren't named that appear over the many compilations i do have the CD single with a number of mixes on but i've yet to add and check that one to my iTunes

Well, if you are only going to be known for ONE song, make sure it's a good one--and they sure delivered here. One of the most important odball dance records to come out of the 80's...and one of the earliest examples of hip-hop being sampled by dance producers.

Edited 3 years agoi believe the Cd Compilation - "On●Top - Today's Chart Hits" includes the 7 '' U.S.A Remix, yet it is not listed as such...

In the quest to find the origin of the sample used at the start of the US Radio Edit ( "Yo all you homeboys out in bronx this one's for you" ) I started a post on the FB Sample Spotters group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/1637547466559889 ) and also on the DWG forum: http://forum.diggerswithgratitude.com/showthread.php?19182-Sample-spotters-needed-for-this-vocal-sample
Hopefully someone will come up with it! -
This is what got me started with electronic music and Deejaying. Heard it for the first time in 1987 at a party and it sounded so strange, so avant garde. Granted, Chicago house and Detroit techno were already in full steam, but I was a kid in Buenos Aires. At parties they played INXS. What did I know? So to me this was just incredibly different from, say, Depeche Mode or Erasure, sort of the edgiest things you could hear. Good times.

Record full of different samples. They had to make a different version for the US marked due to some copyright issues. Sadely they never did a follow-up record.

anyone know where to find the original release of PUTV. I had the original when first released which included the samples you won't hear in today's version.
