Constant pops and crackles on 2 out of 4 records. Had to return this one unfortunately. No attention paid to packaging by the manufacturer. The strong foil caused the records to be pressed firmly against each other in the outer sleeve. Even after thorough cleaning surface noise was constant. Why any company still uses paper sleeves is beyond me. The 2 LP version from Music On Vinyl is much better in my opinion. -

Edited 7 months agoI picked this up on the first pre order, I also have the original MOV copy that was quite cut down. Watertower presses are always hit and miss, you have to be prepared to send some back until you get a good copy, but when you do, this is a phenomenal copy and my go to now, I've put the MOV in storage. Having the full soundtrack from start to finish, the dynamics are just about held (which is almost impossible on vinyl with the sheer scale of the crescendo's in this recording), there is some distortion in places, it's not 100% perfect, but overall this is unquestionably the copy to have so far.
Such an astounding piece of work and has led me to collecting as much of Zimmers work as possible. What a genius.
It's good to see Watertower did repress it after the initial batch sold out fairly quickly, this is an item that needs to be in print, everyone should have this in their collection for those rainy sunday afternoons for some introspective thought (as I'm doing right now).
PLAY IT LOUD, the quiet parts will still be quiet, but you need those crescendos to blast the roof off! -
Beautiful soundtrack. Arguably one of the finest ever made in my opinion and illustrates the majestic power of a church organ. Will treasure forever.

Way to ruin a wonderful soundtrack. I had to return my copy to the local store where I purchased it. Way too much surface noise (pops, clicks, swooshes, you name it). The only side that didn't have any noise was Disc 2, Side 1. It pained me to return it, but it was just way too distracting. At least, I have the CD. -
Fantastic pressing here, fortunately! No background noise at all, barely any pops or cracks. I got mine from Amazon NL. -
Why do they still put records inside these awful paper sleeves? Lots of clicks&pops and you could clearly see paper dust all over the surface. They do sound fine after some cleaning though... and the paper sleeves went straight to the bin! -
Awful pressing in my case. Even after deep cleaning, the records are extremely noisy, full of pops and clicks. A shame for this soundtrack, which features lots of quiet moments. -
Beautiful soundtrack!! One of my favorite scores of all time. I was hesitant to get it on vinyl since the OG version lacked some of the best tracks and the new edition had a lot of negative reviews on the pressing. I finally got the expanded edition vinyl as a gift (European pressing from Amazon) and I am very happy with how it sounds. This pressing is dynamic and clean, with little surface noise. It does suffer from some inner groove distortion on a few sides and perhaps is a bit lacking in the low end, but otherwise an excellent pressing. I will be enjoying this for years to come.
