Side one is great ! Very cool to hear these stripped version tough I really prefer the full orchestra versions of the album - side 2 is definitely not for me, and I really don’t like the Krieger overdubs made 40 years later - my vinyl is perfectly flat and sounds great !

Edited one year agoi always dreamed to listen how the record sounded before horns and overdubs. I rather have the Original versions, but still love to have this stripped copy, sounds great and enjoyable. Unfortunately, as most of the RSD hurried jobs the artowrk is poor and lousy, lacking vital information on the tracks and decent covers. With such awesome pictures of The Doors available it´s a shame not using them.

This album is the black sheep of the catalog, but the stripped down version is very cool. Dead quiet and flat. A great spin.

Brilliant release! Sound is great, totally new expreience without strings and horns. Great pressing, a must have!

Edited 3 years agoThis is how this album should have been originally released... The horns are okay but they just don't fit The Doors.
But why not the full album? I really miss the other tracks.

Edited 4 years agoThe Soft parade is great as it is. Doesn´t need any changes. But I´d like to have got The Soft Parade song TV version well released. And also I think it´s neccessary more live bright midnight concerts on vinyl .

Really Doors. a 'limited edition' of 12,000 is ridiculous. that is probably 4000 more than the marked demanded for a very poorly assembled collection. and only 8 songs. and 3 of them TWICE!!!!!
The packaging is cool to look at but I had to put my hands all over the LP just to separate it from the packaging. It is now in a protective sleeve and the original cover and the vinyl are in a protective outer sleeve.
I would have been happier if it were one copy of the 8 album tracks stripped of the overdubs (the title track did not have any to speak of) with "Who Scared You" added. Does any band screw there fan base more than The Doors do? -
Saw this in the shop the last week for € 27,95 which is not much less than what I paid for the CD and vinyl deluxe set that has this album on CD. Went back today and bought it as I thought they only had 1 copy (turned out they had 3 in stock). Playing it right now and damn..... the look and feel of this on vinyl is indeed awesome and I guess I'll be playing this vinyl way more than the CD. Immediately changed sleeves on this copy though and put the actual vinyl in a protective innersleeve.

Attention junior meelyonaires and seekers of champagne wishes and caviar dreams. If you've hoarded multiple copies of this and plan to keep them in the PVC sleeve, you might as well burn them in the driveway. They'll be trashed sooner than later when that sleeve chemically melts into the vinyl. Bite the bullet and separate them.
