Notes
With this album, the tenth in his own name, after twenty years of concerts and collaboration with others, Raffaello SIMEONI has made a comeback to his native region, the land he never abandoned but never embraced as closely as he does here. (Central Italy) This work addresses questions of recollection and the effects of over time and space with the age-old rituals and traditions of the central-Italian, Sabine area. The alpha and omega of this CD are the lyrics, the folk lore of the area revisited and modified in a intensely original manner. The sounds and arrangements, revealing a deeply conscious and balanced response to world music, which accompany these lyrical, sincere songs, avail of both ancient (bag-pipes, flutes, the harp) and contemporary instruments (electronic pipes, drums, electric sitar). Worthy of note the is the participation of Hevia, of Arnaldo Vacca, of the Isola Quartet and many other companions of adventure ive and enraptured by this quest for roots both personal and common to the entire human race; total roots symbolised by the footsteps of Saint Francis of Assisi, who once tread the earth in the Sabine area.
