Edited 2 years agoFinally I bought the USA version at the shop in Paisley Park two months ago. I was there and I thought this should be a good copy, unfortunately. This USA copy is also full of swooshing sounds and ticks, exactly as te EU version.
Yesterday I bought a new EU-copy (https://discogs.versitio.com/release/25987555-Prince-One-Nite-Alone-Solo-Piano-And-Voice-By-Prince) This one is perfect! I think they used a new lacquer cut; the matrix/runout starts with 21 (MPO logo]® and its corresponding 21 ###### numbers) instead of 19(USA version) and/or 20(USA and EU version).
Does anyone have similar experience? -
Think I must have got lucky here. Gave it a really good clean before listening and it plays pretty much perfectly...such a damned beautiful record too. Very glad I took a punt on it!

Plenty of surface noise, but not overbearing. Would've preferred quality, heavy black vinyl, but I'm still satisfied with my pressing. MPO is kinda hit or miss with their pressing quality.

Edited 4 years agoA lot of surface noise, hiss throughout the whole album and very flimsy packaging. The quality of these Prince reissues seems to be going down markedly. It is a pity because I was very satisfied with the quality of the Rave and Chaos & disorder reissues I bought.

Awful pressing. Heart breaking. Returned 3 times and still huge issues with audible pressing faults, especially on A Case of U.
This kind of sounds on a piano/voice records make it unlistenable, and Sony should be ashamed as they are treating Prince's memory and Legacy as shit, just to save some money. The pressing is bad, and the records clearly untested before putting them on the market.
People should not buy this one and stop buying the purple reissue serie, not because of the color but because of the crapy, cheap factory they are from. -
I had 6 times a new vinyl copy (EU copy) of it. It's getting not better. Send them all back. Order now from USA (has not arrived yet).
There are 2 worse pressings,
Pressing 1. on side A; wavy pressing, ticks (pressing faults) in several tracks at the same position on all pressing 1 copies, Side B is ok.
Pressing 2. on side A; no wavy pressing but swooshing sounds on whole side, right channel, Side B is ok. -
An awful lot of surface noise on this one. had to return it but it is still there (on left speaker only). I got a slightly better copy. But it breaks my heart to see this beautiful piece of work treated this way. Stop Purple Vinyls and print records on black wax please.
