Igorrr – Spirituality And Distortion

What do you even say about an album like this? I dunno but I'll try. I have been a fan of this band for a long time and appreciate all of their releases for what they are. Most of them a crazy fusion of breakcore, trip-hop, extreme metal, baroque, opera and more recently chip-tunes. Using Savage Sinusoid as a stepping stone, Igorrrs progression towards metal is nearing completion and still I question if what I'm hearing is actually a guitar or something else entirely. The world music themes are present as usual, as are the baroque elements. You will get your dose of breakcore and even some chip-tunes here too. The operatic vocals in no language in particular juxtapositioned with the mental screaming, mastered by both Laure and Laurent, are perhaps now the most defining feature of this band. The musical themes introduced in the first half of the album are masterfully resolved and refined in the second. As such, this is much more of an 'album' than any of their previous releases. Sound quality on my record is beautiful. It's apparent that great care went into the production of this piece of music. It's by far my most played album of 2020, one week after release, and I suspect this box will become one of my most prized possessions.
