Edited 6 months agoI think it's funny that all these great '80s 12-inchers are usually kind of redheaded stepchildren, so to speak... value-wise, yeah you're usually only paying for one song from the LP, but the sonic quality at 45 RPM is unbelievable, like it is here... I have a lot of the Jesus and Mary Chain, Smiths, Echo & the Bunnymen, Etc UK 12 inchers, and you end up with a pretty cool cover, often times a B-side that's not available elsewhere, and in this case you got a brilliant live Mr Soul on the B side... and the sound quality of the A side will rip your head off, compared to the LP.

echoing mellowdrone below - this pressing takes full advantage of the 12” format, and is by far the loudest and punchiest record in my collection. it absolutely rips.

Edited 5 years agoIf you’re a Dream Syndicate fan you’ll want this album. The live songs are amazing. True live band feel on this LP. Guitar is crystal clear and dynamic and the drums are heavy in the mix. Sound is powerful and engaging. Super tight, super legit. Sounds like a soundboard recording. Like I said, if you’re a fan you’ll surely want to seek this EP out. Cut at 45 rpm for maximum fidelity and it sure delivers. Also, I think this is the only place you will find the cover of the Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young penned song Mr. Soul.
