Edited 5 months agoI don’t understand how two sides of an album can be so different. Despite from Joe Beck, Patti Austin, Tasha Thomas, The Brecker Brothers and Fred Wesley, and excellent sound engineering by Rudy Van Gelder, Side A is instantly forgettable. Yet, turn over and you’re in for a treat. Going Out Of My Head may have been inspired by Shuggie Otis’s song of the same name (but spelt differently) released two years earlier, Fever is given an upbeat re-work in a similar vein to What A Difference A Day Makes and Caravan ends the side in a similar, upbeat style. It’s very mid-70s Esther and well worth a listen. In fact, you can skip Side A and listen to Side B twice.
