Worst remastering job, EVER!
I had to remove the stylus and find my OG copy to compare, and THIS is what I found.
This reissue is:
1. Significanlty quieter than the original (I reckon at least 20% - from the analogue mixer EQ at least).
2. Has no definition anywhere AT ALL! Even when I tried the 4 band EQ on my Allen and Heath mixer there was NOTHING THERE!!
3. Whoever (re)mastered this should hang their heads in SHAME. One of the finest debut albums ever, in any genre, has been stripped of ALL vitality.
4. "Sourcing the original 1/4” tapes for the first time since the original 1978 release, Buzzcocks' thrilling
debut album at last sounds like it was meant to” .....WHAAAAAT?
Domino, did you COMPARE?
What a lot of TOSH from a supposedly reputable record company.
The original LP is head and shoulders better than this piss-poor pressing.
5. The reproduction of the sleeve etc, and sleeve notes etc. are the ONLY saving grace(s) of this issue.
Do yourself a favour... find an original, and give this a MISS.
Apoplectic Images. -
Dreadful pressing, lifeless, muffled and completely devoid of the zip of the original. Great packaging but honestly, find an original copy.
-
Very low sound level on this pressing, and had to clean the record before playing it as there were bits of vinyl all over it.
-
Edited 5 years agoI was pretty disappointed in my copy. The record itself has lots of vinyl bits on the edges and the sound is compressed and small compared to Qobuz streaming the same remaster.
-
The only thing missing is the original planned album sleeve with the Collage by Linder Sterling (instead of the band pic).
-
Nice pressing but I'm sure the original had a locked groove on side two which this one doesn't have.
-
Edited 6 years agoExcellent pressing, not a lick of surface noise. Flat. Centered properly. Nice, rich, defined analog sound on this reissue that was sourced from the original master. Probably sounds pretty true to the original album. Overall, a good deal and decent sound. It's a tad quiet but just turn it up a little bit more than usual and the music will really open up. And the bag it comes with is great too.
