Edited 2 months agoFlawless recording & playing, but (except for the roiling B2 cut), a bit too "smooth jazz" for my taste, especially when Garbarek chimes in. (3.5*)

It's been said a thousand times, but it is true: these ECM records from this era have excellent sound quality. I don't pretend to know why... maybe the recording equipment (tape machine, microphones, studio, instruments, etc.). Maybe the technique and engineer. Maybe the cutting equipment, the stampers, the press. Who knows!? They do sound great.
