While I like the reflective/mirrored sleeve and pretty much everything else about this reissue, I feel it was completely ruined by the scale of the reproduced cover art. Compared to the original Creation LP (or even the lackluster MOV reissues), the Steven Woodhouse cover illustrations are incorrectly scaled and positioned, as is the typography. It appears that they used scans or proofs of the CD insert to recreate this cover. Had they gotten the artwork right, this probably would have been the best reissue of this album on vinyl. To date, the original Creation pressing remains the definitive LP version of this release.

Light years better than the crappy slapdash cash grab pressing by Digital Music On Vinyl. Another swing and a miss by Digital Music On Vinyl, who once again just slapped some MP3s onto a piece of vinyl and called it a day. Compare this pressing to a DMOV pressing of this album, and it is immediately apparent.

#00085 reporting in. Can confirm there is distortion at the beginning of the first song for like 30 seconds or so. Sounds great and looks very nice, although it came with a bend in the top left corner and a split in the top middle seam. VMP shipping strikes again...

Edited 6 years agoUnfortunately, mine has several ages of the good old steady CLICKING ("click... click... click...") throughout, which is absolutely a non-starter for me. I e-mailed VMP and they said they were completely sold out of their stock on this, so I was extremely disappointed, as you might imagine. I guess the MOV edition is going to be the way to go.

Is this reissue a bit hipstery? Yes. Does it sound good? Yes. Very dynamic, deep lows and shrill highs. Very little surface noise and an occasional pop here and there - so what? Does it look great? Yes.
Altogether a very nice limited edition pressing that looks and sounds amazing. What's not to like? -

Edited 6 years agoThe sound on this good. Very dynamic. Comparison to other recent reissue by MOV - MOV slightly edges this one out. Really just cause of the marbles vinyl tendency toward surface noise; and I say this with my copy sounding pretty dang good. No matter what “others” say and regardless of wet cleaning (which I do), new poly sleeves (check), constant needle cleaning between albums (which I don’t do and is debatably harmful for your stylus), or whatever doomsday prepping you want to do for your records, there are just some records that have surface noise - it comes with the format. This seems to be one of them. But happy to have this. Pick it up if you can, but when you can get an MOV copy for $30 or less, I wouldn’t pay the mark up for this unless your collector boner won’t subside upon hearing “limited”, “colored”, “half-speed remastered”, or “foil stamped”.
Of course, if you conceived your first child while listening to this album and subsequently named them “Pygmalion”, then you MUST have this. Upon receipt of a birth certificate showing said name, I will sell you my copy at cost.
